The Reform UK leader Claims Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics

Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “harming young minds” by telling children that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.

During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his perspective on the UK education system, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.

“I expect a teachers’ strike soon after securing a victory,” he remarked in response to questions.

“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this harmful mindset.”

Reacting to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union dismissed the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.

“The politician has crafted his political career on dog-whistle politics and currently, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a conflict,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”

The party, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have designated an education lead.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the system and the curriculum. He said: “We face an enormous task with schooling – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”

Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Honoring Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind rather than current practices where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in the UK and US.”

The party has conflicted with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

Farage has accused the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted at school, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.

Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.

Countrywide walkouts over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and extensive missed instruction for children.

At the US event, Farage also vowed to promote the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He said organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to these educational programs. I make that commitment tonight and I’ll do that.”

The institution, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for no charge to every interested learner.”
