Israelis have come together around the country to mark the second anniversary since the Hamas-conducted attack on 7 October 2023, as discussions advanced in the neighboring country over a conclusion to the war in Gaza.

The attack led to more than 1,200 people losing their lives and 251 others abducted back to Gaza as captives. It was the uniquely most lethal day for the Jewish community since the Second World War.

Israel answered by beginning a armed campaign in Gaza which has taken over 67,000 people, based on figures from the region's Hamas-run health ministry. Its statistics are seen as reliable by the United Nations and other global organizations.

"Our bloodthirsty adversaries have struck forcefully, but they have not broken us," the prime minister added on that day.

He also vowed to "achieve all the aims of the war: the homecoming of all the kidnapped, the elimination of the Hamas administration and the promise that Gaza will never again present a danger to Israel".

Remembrance Ceremonies Across Israel

The Israeli government postponed official commemorations until October 16th - after the end of the festive season - but ceremonies still were held around the country on Tuesday.

A memorial ceremony for the families of Israelis killed in the Hamas assault was conducted in Tel Aviv. Put together by the victims' relatives, it was aired across Israeli broadcast stations.

A period earlier, a silent tribute was held around the country.

Ceasefire Meetings in Egypt

Meanwhile, both sides' negotiating teams met in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of the negotiation venue for a continuing round of mediated discussions to discuss the conditions of the plan.

A senior delegate involved in the discussions said that an night meeting of indirect talks commenced at 7 PM local time.

The source explained the day's discussions concluded without tangible results, because of differences over the suggested Israeli retreat arrangements from Gaza and over assurances Hamas demands to guarantee Israel does not recommence fighting after the initial stage of the agreement.

He commented that the discussions are "challenging and have not yet produce any significant progress," but mentioned that facilitators are making efforts to narrow the differences between the both parties.

Critical Points in Discussions

  • A permanent halt to fighting
  • The exchange of the hostages still held by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners from Gaza
  • The pullout of troops from Gaza
  • Plans for humanitarian aid deliveries
  • Post-war administration of the area

Civilian Feeling

In Tel Aviv's memorial area previously, 29-year-old a woman - whose brother lived through the attack on the Nova music festival, where many attendees were lost their lives and dozens more were abducted by Hamas gunmen - shared: "No location appears as home now and until every captive return no one will have peace of mind."

"Once we see everyone home again, we can feel relief again. Then we can begin to heal," she continued.

In front of the prime minister's residence in Jerusalem, people congregated to show their solidarity for the relatives of the hostages. Israel reports 48 continue in detention in Gaza, approximately twenty of whom are believed to be living.

Demonstrator a participant remarked: "We must do any agreement needed for the hostages to come back home. But we really want promises that we will be protected."

Opinion polls now frequently demonstrate that approximately the majority of the population prefer the hostilities to end in exchange for the freedom of the hostages.

Palestinian Circumstances

At the site of the music event, grieving people gathered to remember the victims.

From the site, the boom of Israeli air strikes and shelling could be noticed just a few kilometres away in Gaza, where witnesses indicated the heavy Israeli shelling carried on.

In the urban center, attacks were noted in the dawn of Tuesday in the west side district, sector and Nasr districts and in the east side district of the community, as well the camp to the northwestern area.

"Once the night arrives, the anxiety arrives with it," evacuated Gaza City resident a mother, whose young son was lost his life by an Israeli bombing last year, shared.

"We are afraid of the bombings. During nighttime we are resting together, holding each other, especially my youngest child who rests his face on me the entire evening."

"Every second we check the reports to see what happened. And I'm worried that this halt will not be completed and that the fighting will come back to us."

Health Crisis

The medical facility in Gaza City reported it had received the bodies of six people by the daytime, including a trio who died in an Israeli bombing in the southern al-Sabra neighbourhood.

Nasser hospital in the south region of the city indicated two more fatalities had been brought there. One of them was died by Israeli troops while looking for aid to the southern area, health workers said.

The region's health ministry reported twenty-five of the {territ
