Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
