A Pig's Tale: Pig Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami Dade County Mayor.

Although not quite at the same level as pardoning festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor had her own presidential-style act this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She is worthy of this pardon. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of pardons issued since the beginning of a current administration.

“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “May this pig enjoy a prosperous future away from worry.”

The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was founded to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, contributed by a first responder, was christened after the current slang trend of young people shouting “six-seven” – originating from a rap song lyric – often without clear purpose. The phrase became so widespread that a prominent word reference recently made “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A New Life

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the holiday season,” said the event host, in a decidedly positive message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: vibrant, diverse, and based in heritage that unite the community. Every time, we are honored to observe tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.”

Guests enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they toasted the pig's pardon.
